Sniffer dogs detect lung cancer

10 Feb

It isn’t just bombs, drugs and other substances that dogs can detect. Studies have suggested that dogs are also able to detect tumours in people. Although the actual chemical they are detecting is undetermined, researchers in Germany  found that trained dogs could detect a tumour in 71% of patients.

There have been many other stories from dog owners who claim that their dogs “told them that they were ill”. I recently watched a program where a woman said that her dog acted differently around her and that she was later diagnosed with breast cancer. When the woman had been cured of cancer, the dog was reported as being back to his normal, happy self without a care in the world.
